During the 2006 fall semester the New Mexico Highlands University Sigma Xi Chapter of The Scientific Research Society initially provided funds for three undergraduate and two graduate students to do research in Social Work, Music/Spanish, Natural Resources Management, and Southwest Studies-Anthropology. Additional donations allowed us to continue the program through the spring, summer and fall 2008 semesters

Again this semester we encourage students to explore research opportunities and submit an application for financial support from the NMHU Chapter Sigma Xi Student Research Fund. The goal of this fund is to encourage and support undergraduate and graduate student scientific investigation in any field of study. Therefore, students from all academic disciplines are eligible to submit an application for review and possible funding of up to $400 per semester.

Thank you.

Sigma Xi Student Research Fund Sub-Committee

Mary Shaw (Biology), David Glass (Graduate Student, Biology), and Bob Mishler (Anthropology)
